SanDiegoSlacklining.com Is Back and Better Than Ever

In case you have not noticed, SanDiegoSlacklining.com has recieved a HUGE makeover! There are loads of changes that have been happening and loads more that will be happening in the next few weeks!

First off I just want to say that there are a lot of little kinks that need to be worked out in the site, i.e. font colors and typos. But they will all be worked out in the coming days. With that said, read on!

It has been almost 6 months since we started our lovely slacklining community and just look back at how far we have come! Loads has happened from that 1st day at Mission Bay and there is much more coming our was as well! With that said let me go over some items point by point.

- Slacklining in the news! SDS has been making headlines if you have not see or heard. The Union Tribune has been doing videos and writing stories about the group. The videos we shot at some meetups that we scheduled but not a lot of people make a long for the ride. But anyway here are the links to those if you have not seen them already...

- Gibbon Slackline Sponsorship- SDS is now sponsored by Gibbon Slacklines! We hosted them when they came down for the USA Tour in July and some of us participated in a demo with them at ASR(Action Sports Retailers Trade Show). Between those events and just by word of mouth that are totally stoked on what we are doing here in San Diego. They have supplied the group with some slacklines to use at our events and some other items as well.

-Logo Design Contest!!!! That is right! We are looking for a sweet logo that we would be able to use to represent SDS. The contest is open to everyone in the group and the deadline will be umm... sometime around the end of October and the prize is a 75' 1" slackline setup. The logo must include the words San Diego Slacklining or SDS or any combination of them and some visual graphic that is appealing and relates to slacklining. All submissions can be sent to me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and through a highly complicated and sophisticated process of elimination, brackets, votes, creation and deletion the winner will be decided upon.

And finally perhaps the most important item of the day.

As we have begun working with Gibbon and gaining media attention in San Diego. I have been approached and have been asked my different companies to set up slacklines for them to demo or to have as part of an event. Many of the events are advertised to the group as they are part of bigger events such as the surf contest on Oct. 18th. But there are also events that happen that are exclusive to the people organizing it. What I am getting at is that I am going to be watching everyone and how they are doing in their progress with slacklining. I want to be able to put together a group of "team riders" so to speak or sponsored athletes that we can use to send to some of the events. As some of these opportunities are paid, we are looking for people who are really solid on the lines that can show off what you can do on a slackline and what they are capable of. Doing backflips is not a guarantee that you will be qualified but it wouldn't hurt. What I am looking for are people who can do different mounts, jumps, surfing the line, hand balancing and probably the biggest thing is doing it on both 1" and 2" lines. This is not something that will be happening right away but keep it in mind and keep working hard on those lines.

Well that is all that I have got for now. Have a good one!

Peace,
Frankie
